Z is for...

I have been using the double holiday weekends  we've been having in the UK to sew, sew sew.  Sometimes I think I've gone feral.  I am surrounded by scissors, cutters and rulers and the floor, my clothes and all available surfaces are covered in threads.  I eat at irregular times- although I always eat, I never skip a meal and my clothing choice is questionable.  I have been known to nip out to the post office only to find threads and fabric clippings hanging off my backside as I am walking along.  One of the things I have been working on is a couple of Bee blocks for Christine in Bee (A Little Bit) Japanese.  The theme is a transport/star quilt for a little boy called Zac.
This is a cheater star from The Sometimes Crafter, a nice quick way of building a star.  Christine said that she would welcome some Zs so I added an applique road style Z.
I 'm working on the next block now, a yellow school bus, it is on its way....

  3. I'm totally giggling reading your post, Kerry! Questionable clothing choices, threads hanging, eating at irregular times... Feral is the perfect word for it all!
All worth it to end up with such cute blocks!

  6. Sweet blocks - what little boy wouldn't love them?! And yes, I know that feeling of walking along out in public and realizing that I'm covered in thread clippings like some sort of hairy sewing monster.

  13. It sounds like you have been on fire! One of these days you should show us how your craft room looks like so that we'll know someone like you can have a mess too :D And I'd like you in your questionable clothing in the picture as well, with the fabric clippings hanging! (I'm just kidding!)
The block is very cute and boyish! I can't wait to see another one you are working on!

  15. This post made me so happy, Kerry, as it seems I am not the only one rushing to post almost daily covered with thread ends (black trousers are a no-no), ruler hanging from one trouser leg and sleeves covered with pins. They know me there, thankfully, so they still serve me with smile :)

Thank you for "make-me-happy-post" and sunny weekend!

    Yours,
    Mia

  16. i feel like my clothing choices and meal times have headed south ever since i started my quilting obsession. even on days that i don't get any sewing in, why dress up to troll flickr and blogs? i've gotten so picky about fabric selection and block choices, but i personally look rattier and rattier. my husband is a mathematician and they are notorious for dressing like homeless people and mumbling to themselves. i might be headed that direction if i took the time to look at myself in the mirror...
