Today you can find me at the very lovely Lawson and Lotti's blog Sewing Space feature. My sewing room is called the 'back room' in this house, what a glamourous name you are thinking, right? It is a messy and chaotic place, piles of things everywhere, piled in some sort of order but there are a lot of little heaps- my creative brain is a busy place!
I had a lovely Sunday car boot sale moment today, a regular trader asked me if I was "The material lady?" Don't you just love that? He had some great vintage treasure for me, what a great start to the day. I need to get on with hand sewing a quilt binding, gotta be ready for tomorrow!
Hi Kerry! Material Lady sounds so sweet! I think it's in me, too... boxes and boxes materials! Your visiting post with your sewing place is wonderful! I guess most of us fancy those beautiful sewing places where everything is nicely in order - but how it works?! I know about where I found all my things and materials, but they are always a mess because I need so many fabrics, colours and patches in every work - no one has time to put them straight away back on their place! I think it gives also inspiration to see the materials around. Happy sewing! x Teje
Loved having a rootle round your back room, so much inspiration, it's fab! Also love the idea of having someone know you and save fabric for you - I've never been quite brave enough to try car booting here...
I wasn't dressed till nearly 11 today! So lazy! They know me and my mum at our local car boot sale, I haven't been for ages' it's still too cold, they've been asking mum where I am!
The Back Room, indeed! The Back Room sounds scary, like a place that horrible things happen and no one can hear you scream... I know, I need to stop letting my husband pick the movies!! ;-) Seriously, why not just rename it Your Studio? That way, every time you refer to the place where you're working, you're reaffirming the legitimacy of your art and your craft. Artisans work their magic in studios; butchers and stockists work in Back Rooms.
That's really lovely, IMO, to be called the material lady and have someone think of you to bring special goodies for you to look at and purchase. So sweet!!
I am THE Material Lady! Where was the boot sale? Check me out at www.themateriallady.wordpress.com or www.themateriallady.co.uk . I think there should be lots of Material Ladies as it is very nice!
Thank you for taking the time out to leave your thoughts, I do very much appreciate you stopping by! Blogger is not sending comments through by email at the moment so I'll reply in the comments.
Boot Sale already - I am not even dressed!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great name though! I have already been to Charlotte's so not completely lazy x
Material Lady I love it! Off to look at your backroom now.

ReplyDeleteAh one of the many things I miss from our time living in England is the car boot sales, I used to love going and also being a seller.
