I hand pieced mine- when I cut out my templates I put a halfway marker where the curve and arch fit together. I use plastic templates, trace round and add the seam allowance after. When I then come to pin them together, I also clipped the arch frame section with 1/8" cuts to help it to give a little. I have seen other people use a solid section rather than an arch and appliqué the curves on top- either raw edge or turning the edge in so those are other approaches that could be used. I hope that helps xverykerryberryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07485169920671733941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1652190296430922611.post-46315156444818765902015-08-04T02:47:00.427+01:002015-08-04T02:47:00.427+01:00Hi Kerry! I love your small world progress so far...Hi Kerry! I love your small world progress so far. Such wonderful fabric choices and colour!<br />I am far behind you still working on Part 1. I just wondered if you have any tips for piecing the little curved blocks on the bottom left (like the ones at the bottom of these Part 3 building blocks)? I have pieced curves before but possibly not so small and I'm struggling to piece them accurately without the blocks distorting out of shape. I used freezer paper templates which I ironed onto the back of the fabric and traced the seamline and the added seam allowance onto the back of the fabric before sewing. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!Kyliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11286440430144948069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1652190296430922611.post-89033271656491747942015-07-22T01:08:54.336+01:002015-07-22T01:08:54.336+01:00Thank you for the link to the tutorial on Y seams....Thank you for the link to the tutorial on Y seams. She posted some pictures on Instagram last week relating to part three and chose to do it there instead of on her blog as it is no longer active but as both of her children have just had a nasty bug I am guessing she has had her hands full in the last couple of days too. Lisa of Vintagemodernquilts will be the next host in a couple of weeks and she is an active blogger.verykerryberryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07485169920671733941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1652190296430922611.post-66913582736083943262015-07-13T03:27:06.406+01:002015-07-13T03:27:06.406+01:00Loving your posts! Are they posting about their process/hints/methods somewhere else that I am missing?
