I guess you've seen the hype. Aurifil threads have been all over blogland. Until relatively recently I thought Aurifil was for overlockers and they only produced cones of overlock thread, I don't know where I got that notion but the only bit that is correct is the massive cones! Aurifil are obviously on a big promo push and I was happy to test their threads out. I was pretty keen on the thread I already used, especially YLI soft touch for piecing- did you notice the past tense there? My allegiance has changed.
This is what has turned me, Ne 50/2 ply for piecing and applique. It has a beautiful sheen and feels incredibly fine and smooth. Thread weight is not always easy to spot on a spool but it is significant- the higher the large number the finer the thread. You can read more about thread weights here. A freebie is not enough to win my stitching pennies, performance is everything- I feel like I am talking about a sports car now- but this thread really performs!
You can see why whenyou look at it next to the YLI soft touch- the secret is in the fibres- both have long staple cotton fibres but you can see the fuzz of the grey YLI, the red Aurifil has much silkier smoother. I am guessing that the length of the Aurifil fibres is quite a bit longer than the YLI fibres resulting in smoother thread and less fluffy deposits in your machine.
As a result this thread sews like a dream, it produces less tangles when starting and securing a seam and gives amazing accuracy. The Ne. 50 weight 2 ply is fine so it takes up less space in the seam. In a 1/4 inch seam every little bit that is lost and gained makes a significant difference to accuracy so a good piecing thread is a vital tool for me. It is going to be a dream to freezer paper piece with!
A back view just so you can see more stitching. These tiny stitches are 1.5 length on my Janome.
You can see all the points match up nicely, not always easy when 100% linen is involved.
I tired a different thread for some hand sewn top stitch detail. This was Ne. 12 described as suitable for Sashiko and embellishment. It is silky smooth and glided through the linen.
I tested some of the other threads for hand stitch details. Firstly, you can see the 12 weight wool thread 50% wool, 50% cotton. This is more fluffy and gives a bit of texture on the linen. I used a sashiko needle and thimble to add these thicker threads.
I ran another line of stitches with Ne. 12 in cotton in gold.
Aurifil have a huge variety of colours-216 for each thread weight. I was lucky enough to have shade cards sent and as I have never seen this thread in a bricks and mortar shop I can see they will be incredibly useful. I mainly use neutrals and those are what I am going to buy first. Where to buy from? I found these UK online suppliers via google but there are more... A further plus is that the spools contain a lot of thread for your money- for me this is going to be more economical, gotta love that...
http://www.new-threads.com/aurifil-thread-15-c.asp - a very large selection
So now the giveaway. Four packs, each containing a selection of different colours and weights await your comments- to enter please leave a comment, if you want a theme for your comment recommend me some great music to listen to, I am still obsessed with Ben Howard and welcome any new suggestions. Otherwise any old comment will do. I need your email in your profile or your comment so I can notify the winners. Comments close Midnight GMT Sunday 14th August. I'll use a random type choosing method. International entries are welcome- I am happy to post these anywhere, but meanwhile they are staying with me- don't worry I'll take good care of them. I won't respond to giveaway comments but good luck and enjoy a bit of Ben. He is gigging around the UK from October and I got tickets!
I'm a huge Aurifil fan... great thread, I've used many weights and types, it can't be beat!
ReplyDeleteMusic... Chris Trapper/The Push Stars... my newest love!
I never have tried these threads and they look great!!
ReplyDeleteI recommended you the group KOOP and Koop's island album. Looove it. If you're on a more electronic mood Daft punk are the best ;)
Thanks for this chance to win. I will keep my fingers crossed :)
lenarod8@yahoo.es
I so want to try Aurifil but it can be hard to just make a purchase online when you can't go into a shop and purchase - so really be sure what you're getting. As for music recommendations I confess I haven't heard of a lot of people you mention so I am probably not your girl.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Aurifil links - I haven't seen any of this thread yet!
ReplyDeleteMusic - showing my age but still a huge Led Zeppelin fan!
Check out Straight No Chaser! It is a male accapella group from the University of Illinois (I think). They are on YouTube and they are good!!! :) Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteannesaprons@gmail.com
Huge huge huge fan of Auriful here!!! Fi
ReplyDeleteOh yes please! I think I am a middle of the road music lover so my tastes may be a bit boring for you. That said, I do listen to Laura Pausini quite often. She sings in Italian. Not a clue what she is saying but her voice is very beautiful. Listen to her on YouTube for a flavour.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite for piecing is the 50/2 in shade 2000. Brill. I've been buying from new-threads.com and had good service. I went mad and bought a couple of the boxed sets! Lovely colours.
ReplyDeleteWould love to win. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeletePs. I know. The Dualers. You can listen to them on YouTube too. Kind of ska music. Can't understand why they aren't more well known. Please don't include this comment in the random generator thingy.
ReplyDeleteI don't listen to music very often, but this weekend I was with my granddaughters and they recommend any Christmas songs, but Jingle Bells and the twelve days of Christmas were favorites. Gotta tell ya you haven't ever laughed until you laugh at a 2 year old and a 4 year old translate the 12 days of Christmas into things that they know.
ReplyDeleteI've not tried these before but the hype is working on me. I might have to buy some.
ReplyDeleteMusic? Caro Emerald, love her!
oh gosh, hope I win Kerry! rig it for me will ya? just so you have to post this on your blog, hehe. Really, I could so use more aurifil!
ReplyDeleteI love the Whitlams, they are an Australian band had havent released anything recently but their back catalogue is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThis is just "any old comment" because as a burnt-out professional musician, the music most appealing to me is my breathing, my heartbeat, the constant ringing in my ears if I listen hard enough..
ReplyDeleteI haven't had the pleasure of using Aurifil but would love to try! Hope I get the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteSo far as music goes, well Frank Sinatra is an oldie but a goodie!
Oooh would love to try these! Fingers crossed... if you like singer songwriters then you might like Chris Wood's Handmade Life - it's gorgeous stuff.
ReplyDeleteMy 'tunes' lately mostly consist of nursery rhyme CDs to keep my (almost) 2 year old amused!
ReplyDeleteI have been seeing this thread all over blogs, but never in person. I would love to win some to get me hooked lol
ReplyDeleteMusic. Hmmm...Pearl Jam has been my favourite band for more than a decade. I am going to see them THREE times in Sept!
Someone new that I'm loving -new to me that is - Glen Hansard. LOVE him. "Falling Slowly" and "Leave"...youtube them! ;)
I'm afraid I'm not much of a music fan! I have never used aurifil thread but I am hoping to seek them out at FoQ this week :)
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested in trying more of this thread, because the one reel I do own, which cost me a fine penny, breaks SO easily! I wonder if I am using the wrong type?? I certainly can't afford to buy more to test it out!!!
ReplyDeleteAlways up for a freebie!
ReplyDeleteAbi and I are currently loving the Hurts album...every song sounds like an 80's classic and you find yourself singing along the first time you listen to each track!
I'd love to try out Aurifil. I'm really into Josh Groban at the mo. Thanks for hosting this giveaway. Jxo
ReplyDeleteI'd love to find out for myself what the hype is all about!
ReplyDeleteI'm listening to Fleetfoxes and Coco Rosie a lot lately..and Agnes Obel is still in my top five.
Very rarely while sewing am I able to listen to music, sorry! It is because even though I am a multitasker there is always something going on around me... Therefore, one more thing and I'll lose my balance!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I have been trying to figure out which thread is most appropriate and it sounds like this thread just might be perfect for me as a newbie with the recommendation of an experience sewer/quilter.
Thank for the lovely giveaway!
Okay Kerry, I'm officially considering you my personal thread-expert! I had pegged you down as such after your recent patchwork project where you had extolled the importance of considering thread weight depending on the size of the project, but this review puts you over the top! I don't care for sports cars at all, but I really covet these now:)
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend and I tune into Jarvis Cocker's Sunday Service on BBC 6 Music every weekend for our week's new music. Do you listen to it at all?
My goodness, you do know how to pique a girl's interest -- now I want to try this thread out! Oh, who am I kiding, I just like trying new things :) Enjoy the show in October!
ReplyDeleteI haven't yet tried Aurifil threads. I love the look of the #12 thread for hand stitching.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying Sara Bareilles and Matt Brouwer.
ReplyDeleteI have not tried this thread but have seen the hype all over blog land! Love to win! I enjoy Adele's music. Thank you, Sally
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to try Aurifil threads for so long but have never seen them in real life.
ReplyDeleteMusic. I'm a fan of diverse sounds. Recently Arcade Fire has had me singing along. Here's the link to their song, "We Used To Wait" ... http://youtu.be/CLjrQ3cwzJ4
And because I'm such a fan of Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave ...
Leonard Cohen - Dance Me To The End of Love ... http://youtu.be/Ki9xcDs9jRk
Nick Cave - The Ship Song ... http://youtu.be/rKlaV-9Vzsk and Fifteen Feet of Pure White Snow ... http://youtu.be/44ZUmL0dIx0 (the video is very cool, too, I think).
Oh, stop me!
LOVE AURILFIL THREADS!
ReplyDeleteTHANKS SO FOR SHARING!
jldouglas@wispwest.net
Ok Kerry, it's nice to know you have switched allegiances, and WHY! I have yet to try aurofil... and am trying to keep an open mind. LOL But love the thread I use. Admittedly though, there are lots of fuzzies! Excited to try it, and see if they can switch me too! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI recently tried Aurifi. It was worth every penny. But I only have one spool, and it's black. I'd love to have some more.
ReplyDeleteAs to music.....my favorite artist is Andrew Peterson.
You sure put that thread through its paces! I appreciate that -- now I can understand why I need it! One of my favorite singers is Nancy Griffith, if you can still find any of her music. It is mostly folk songs, and they seem to have a wonderfully timeless quality.
ReplyDeleteAurifil is the best... I LOVE how it makes your piecing disappear, and I would LOVE to see how some of the other ones work. Music -- my favorite CD right now is the Glee Warblers... you can laugh at me (it's a TV show over here, in case you haven't heard of it). :) Super fun to listen (and sew) to.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to give this thread a try, but like others, just can't bring myself to purchase it online yet...
ReplyDeleteI don't really know what music to recommend because I always end up choosing the same old thing...The Swell Season...regardless of what else new I may own!
I never used this thread but I will love to try!
ReplyDeleteAnd this brazilian music, that I love very very much:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D207r2Te9U8&feature=related
Hope you like it too!
I've never tried Aurifil! THanks for the chance to broaden my horizons!
ReplyDeleteI've not tried Aurifil threads before, but have some Cotton Patch vouchers to spend at the FOQ so might give them a try...but even better to win these lol!
ReplyDeleteMusic wise, I would like to recommend the fabulous Diamond Mine album by King Creosote and Jon Hopkins, particularly this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Me0N8ghGrOA
I love Aurifil! The thread is so lovely and fine. My machine loves it too -- if I use other thread, I have to adjust the bobbin tension when I put the Aurifil back in afterwards. >_<
ReplyDeleteI lways like to see other people's opinions before purchasing anything new - I may have to try Aurifil out!
ReplyDeleteI really would love to try Aurifil so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteI've recently become obsessed with Mumford & Sons. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Ben Howard concert!
ReplyDeleteohhh thread! I have a liking for Willy Mason or Nizlopi :)
ReplyDeleteHi there!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the very helpful information about the different aurifil threads - I haven't used them before, but will certainly give them a try now!
For music to listen to while I am sewing its either Chopin nocturnes or Mumford & Sons (going from one end of the spectrum to the other), depending on the project & how well it is going!
Thanks for a great giveaway!
Wow I want to win this giveaway ;-) Forget the music I love your blocks in this post, beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI love this thread and so does my sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about changing from my yli, so I'm grateful for your review. Of course winning some would be brill!
ReplyDeleteI'm hopeless with music these days as all I ever listen to now are audiobooks so I do two things at once, read and sew! Wolf Hall is my current obsession.
I have only had the wonderful experience of using this thread once, when I was in the states. Why or why didn't I buy more to take with me?? I would LOVE to win this fabulous give away as I can't get this thread where I live. In fact the only thread I can buy here is cheap, cheap cone thread they use on sergers. Ick.
ReplyDeletePS I love all your cheerful colors on your blog!
backpackandpearls (at) gmail (dot) com
I am obsessed with Aurifil! My LQS sells it so that's all I've been using for piecing for the last year and a half...I'm dying to try some for quilting too!
ReplyDeleteWonderful giveaway and thank you for the informative review! I recently bought one spool of Aurifil in white and am really enjoying working with it. For a musical recommendation, I suggest Lhasa de Sela if you haven't listened to her music. Beautifully moving songs in English, French and Spanish.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new blogger (and newly moved to the UK) and love reading your blog. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and creativity!
surelystitching.blogspot.com
surelystitching(at)gmail(dot)com
I've been piecing with Aurifil for years now. Love it! I use a medium taupe/khaki color that seems to go well with lights, mediums and darks so you don't have to worry too much about matching thread to fabric, especially with very scrappy piecing. Sometimes it's hard to find my favorite color in shops and then I go with a medium gray (or grey).
ReplyDeleteAs for music, I think you'd like the Avett Brothers, and probably you've heard of them already. I also really like The Bronx Mariachi. The Bronx is an LA punk band and their Mariachi music in English is soooo good. Just try it.
Those are beautiful! Thank you for this chance to win these threads! (Just in case it doesn't post: lisaandmariahcreations@gmail.com)
ReplyDeleteI would love a chance to try Aurifil.
ReplyDeleteI do love using Aurifil. When I first discovered it I thought I had been living under a rock. It's one of my top two favs.
ReplyDeleteI've been reading about these on the blogosphere and looking forward to trying some, obviously I'd love to try them for free, but I've found out my local quilt shop has a small selection... Still keeping everything crossed to win some.
ReplyDeleteI'd love some Aurifil thread - thanks for the giveaway! :) Sorry - no musical suggestions from my corner...
ReplyDeleteI have heard so many great things about this thread! I soooo want to try test drive it myself. As for music...I listen to a variety of music so I'm not sure what to suggest. I'm going to see Deerhunter Wednesday night (yay!)...they have a variety of sounds and styles, but I guess classify themselves as "ambient punk". What is that?! I guess I'm getting old...
ReplyDeleteI have never used this thread, but would love to find out what all the hubbub is about!
ReplyDeletemusic...Lucinda Williams, Caitlyn Cary, Lucy Kaplansky, Cry Cry Cry, and Brett Dennon come to mind.
I've given up using 'old' threads (found in op shops or given to me) and now use the expensive stuff. Enjoyed this post, and would very much enjoy test-driving these. Thank you for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI have never used these threads before but have been wanting to try them out.....thanks for the opportunity to win some......
ReplyDeleteI splurged and bought some plain white Aurifil and love it. I'm leery about trying to get colors online because my monitor has messed up ordering before.
ReplyDeleteI listen to a lot of Muse, Florence + Machine, Adele and the soundtrack to the show Glee.
Thanks for the info, I would love to try these threads! I have never had the pleasure of using them. What a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHave you heard Bon Iver? They just put out a new album which is good, but the one that was a secret obsession for me for almost a year is Flume. If you haven't heard them, be sure to check it out and then you can include some Aurifil in my pin cushion package as I'm sure I'll be your winner :)
ReplyDeleteYes,yes, yes, Aurifil is great thread! I buy the big cones of beige and medium gray for all my piecing, and most of my quilting too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway! I am really digging on Mumford and Sons right now and Arcade Fire is always a favorite!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the detailed review Kerry! You sure do make me consider that there is more to thread than meets the eye. I tend to use gutterman or another German one which I forget the name of. Starts with a lol.... Always ready to try something new though! :)
ReplyDeleteI suggest trying Brooke Fraser. She is another kiwi girl & we grew up close to each other & used to be on opposite debating teams. She is now internationally famous, does lots of beautiful accoustic and always gets my feet tapping as I sew.
Xx
I've just started to use this thread. Love it, already gone through one spool of cream, would love some more!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try Aurifil! As for music, try Holy Ghost Tent Revival or Dirty Bourbon River Show!
ReplyDeleteHave never gotten the opportunity to use any Aurifil, but would jump at the chance!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have some Auriful. One of my favorite singers is Sully Erna from Godsmack and he has released a solo album Avalon.
ReplyDeleteI'm better posting about something. There's less pressure in thinking about something interesting to write about.
ReplyDeleteSo... I recommend the band Mogwai. It's just great.
Funny, I hear lots of great comment on Aurifil 50, but nothing about 40: the one with the green bottom (LOL) That's the one I always use to piece and to machine quilt.
ReplyDeleteA white yard (with a white bottom spool) when I'm machine quilting, only for the back (of the quilt) as bottom thread.
I'll have to try the 50 now ...
Music?
I still like Newton Faulkner, I'm sure you know him already.
And I'm sure he's not to your taste ..
But he is English and maybe a sort of neo-hippy?
Speaking of hippies: I love listening/singing to Roger Glover's Butterfly Ball! One of my all time favourites, but soooooo old.
I love the colourful bobbins the Aurifil comes on, they would cheer my sewing box up no end! Hmm recommended music, one of my favourite folk artists is Emily Portman (finalist in the Folk Awards 2011) and two of her songs Tongue Tied or Stick Stock. They are traditional haunting folk music but with a contemporary twist.
ReplyDeleteWow - great giveaway, I hope I'm lucky! I can't help on the music front, I'm hopelessly out of touch!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try these out, they look amazing :)
ReplyDeleteI've been listening to Alain Clarke a lot lately, not sure if it's your cup of tea but the songs are amazing, especially "Father & Friend" http://youtu.be/RbqF6Xv1mNU
I'd love to try some Auriful thread - I'm using my grandmother's old stash of threads at the moment, and it's a very mixed bag!
ReplyDeleteFor music, I'd suggest Newton Faulkner for a similar laid-back guitar sound :)
laura.cracknell[at]yahoo.co.uk
I am currently using the 50 weight to piece with and have also switched allegiance from the soft touch. I am heading straight for the Aurifil stand at the Festival of quilts :)
ReplyDeleteFab giveaway!!
I also have a bit of a obsession with the Glee warblers atm as it is great on the way to work music :)
Kelly.feane@talk21.com
I have to admit, I've never paid much attention to what kind of thread I sew with, but I've heard such good things about Aurifil that I'm keen to try it out, so this is one giveaway that I am definitely interested in! Thanks for posting all the shop links too. I'm not very up to date with music I'm afraid, I tend to listen to our local radio station which plays alot of 80's stuff - I'm so out of touch!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love Aurifil but have only used the 50 wt, would love to try the others...music: I have to go with my favorite Bruce Springsteen!
ReplyDeletei've seen this thread around blogland and would love a chance to try it out ;)
ReplyDeleteDo you like music from movies? I love music to movies of Wong Kar Wai - especially to the In the mood for love - a bit melancholic, but extremely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOoo. count me in for the giveaway please I'm dying to try some aurifil! I'll be purchasing some at Festival of Quilts this weekend for sure!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried this thread, but would LOVE to! Thanks so much for the great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI own one reel of Aurifil - it's got a green bottom (!) and is wonderful as a bobbin thread when quilting and I've also used it when piecing with no problems. I currently use Coats cotton for piecing and quilting, mainly because that's what my LQS sells and I find it easier to buy my thread in person - guess that's where the colour chart comes in handy! I'm useless at remembering the names of bands/singers but I love Dermot O'Leary's show on Saturday afternoon on radio 2 - lots of new music and I love the indie disco...my favourite radio of the week! Thanks for the giveaway - my fingers are firmly crossed!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for helping to demystify threads for me. I'm off to quilt festival on Sunday and was thinking about picking some of these up but wasn't sure where to start!
ReplyDeleteI rarely listen to music and sometimes when I do it's to drown out children! Current favourite in our house is Richard James local musician http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hB6woV7-G7g&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
Thanks for a great giveaway.
I've never heard of this thread and loved reading your feedback. I would the chance to win some and try it out for myself...Thanks so much! :)
ReplyDeletejkdmam@gmail.com
Thanks for a great review! I would love to give the thread a try! sounds wonderful like Ben.:)
ReplyDeleteI've been using this thread for the past 6 months and it's improved my piecing and quilting. I can't buy it locally, so I would love to win some from you. thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteAurifil sounds like awesome thread, so I'd love to have some to try.
ReplyDeletethanks for the offer!
I would love to try some of this thread. It sounds lucious! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to try this thread for a while and will be buying some soon if I don't win. I also rediscovered a Dido CD on my shelf which i've enjoyed re-listening to.
ReplyDeleteThat thread looks like a dream to work with! The colours are so yummy! I would LOVE to try a thread that leaves less lint in my machine.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Heidi
aka Digital Misfit
Thank you for the links. I can't wait to try these threads.

I'd love to try the aurifil threads. I really like my mettler threads, though I may be swayed as well.;)
ReplyDeleteKaren P. acp328@yahoo.com
Me, me me, waving hands in the air! I'd love some Aurifil.
ReplyDeleteAs far as music is concerned, I'm stuck in the dark ages (Bonnie Rait is playing as we speak...)
Sue @ ssuesharp@aol.com
I'm rubbish with music (I listen to whatever my husband downloads to iTunes!), but I am rather in love with Aurifil after finally trying the Aurifil thread I bought 6 months back. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteislaybower (at) gmail (dot) com
I am loving Loreena McKennitt at the moment. Hope you enjoy it also. Thanks for the giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteHello, Im from Mexico City, and my music recomendation is Jose Gonzalez!
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing Aurifil all over the blogosphere and would love to try it out - it gets such rave reviews!
ReplyDeleteI'm in a bit of a U2 phase at the moment... Such good stuff!
Thank you for the wonderful review and giveaway! I've never used Aurifil. I definitely want to try it, while hoping my work turns out as fabulous as yours! :) Gosh...music...so many, but right now, I especially love a song by the Plain White T's called 'Rhythm of Love'! :)
ReplyDeleteMy LYS does not carry this thread. I would love the opportunity to use it. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeletemaddymaze (at) earthlink(dot)net
Thanks a lot for the information about threads, very interesting. I never used Aurifil. But would love to have the threads. I do a lot of handquilting and woolapplique with embellisments. For the wool applique it's not easy to find good threads that don't 'cut' the wool. I am in France.
ReplyDeleteFor music I still love a lot NINA SIMONE, yes I know, not very original but I love her voice!!!
I've never use Auifil, and to be honest hadn't heard of them, so it'd be fun to win something new to try! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMusic wise I love listening to Kate Rusby at the moment, she's got such a beautful haunting voice, but she may not be your cup of tea.
Sally

I'd love to try some!
ReplyDeleteEfemera@hotmail.co.uk
Thanks for the chance to win some Aurifil threads - I've heard so much about them but still haven't got hold of any to try.
ReplyDeleteLooking at all the music suggestions, I realise just how out of touch I am with the music scene these days. With CBeebies and kids songs as background noise, I tend to crave perfect peace when home alone! Although I do quite like the Speks ;) I'll enjoy trying to find a few of the above to listen to.
I've been wondering about Aurifil thread too... does the type of thread really make that much difference in quilting projects? I hope to eventually try some Aurifil to see how it compares to other threads. Music-wise, I love listening to Freedy Johnston and Eva Cassidy. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy current favourites: Sia and Aloe Blacc :)
ReplyDeleteBye
Susanne
I don't have to wonder about Aurifil threads as I LOVE them!!! YES the type of thread really does make a tremendous difference in quilting, sewing, home dec projects.
ReplyDeleteI honestly have to say Pick Me, Please, Pick Me! I really love working with Aurifil Threads!
I would love Aurifil thread..I am a new to sewing too....so my supply is low of everything.
ReplyDeleteI Love Fleetwood Mac music...Stevie Nicks....
Thanks for the chance to win...I am now follower of your blog.

Love the fabric you used in your examples. I'd love to try Aurifil.
ReplyDeleteI have just been turned on to Auriful threads this summer and I absolutely LOVE them. They have such a great feel to them as well as doing a beautiful job on stitching. I grew up thinking thread was thread never knowing what a huge difference the right thread makes.
ReplyDeleteOoooh - I want these thread. I haven't tried them but they look amazing. I do a lot of hand-sewing..I'd like to try something new. Thank you for the lovely giveaway.
ReplyDeleteThere is a real buzz about these threads isn't there :-)
ReplyDeletePlease count me in x
Today I have been sewing whilst listening to Lissie. She's an american artist, very good voice. I was lucky to see her in Scotland last year, she is amazing live :-)
I was only told about this thread yesterday! Sounds good to me! Music I'm grooving to at the moment? My daughter downloaded Adele 21, for me to try out. Not bad actually!
ReplyDeletelove the Avett Brothers and Elliot Smith if you're into guy singers!
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to try this thread for a while now, so I hope I win! :)
ReplyDeleteI've heard so many good things about Aurifil and would love to try it out!
ReplyDeleteMusic: My taste runs the gamut, but Foo Fighters and Incubus have been in frequent play at my house. I also second Melinda's Avett Brothers mentioned above.
My current music selection reflects 4 year old girls and a 6 year old boy, so I won't annoy you with those! Can't beat a bit of Mr Brandon Flowers though x
ReplyDeletei have never used Aurifill before but i would really love to try it out! Hm... I love music by Lisa Ono. I'm not sure if you heard of her before but I think her voice is soothing and very nice.
ReplyDeleteI've never used this thread, but it looks nice and I'm always up for doing things to improve my work! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to give Aurifill a try. I am sold. Thanks for the great review! So glad for the chance to win some. :)
ReplyDeleteI've not used the Aurifil but would love to try it. Lots of folks seem to have high praises.
ReplyDeleteI like all kinds of music. Country music is my favorite and Lady Antebellum is one of my favorite groups.
I love music! For Indie Folk I really like Indigo Girls and Laura Love. Jazz: Dianna Krall, rock: Cake (especially love their cover of "I will Survive".
ReplyDeleteI'm very curious about Aurifil thread, would love to try it! Thanks for a really informative post!
ReplyDeleteI love Aurifil thread. It's the only one I use in my Bernina. I'd love to own some additional colors. Take care!
ReplyDeletewould love to try this thread out...i am new to sewing...trying to teach myself
